UNEC’s main academic building is located at 6 Istiglaliyyat Street, Sabail District. The main building is considered one of Baku’s historical architectural landmarks.
The building was constructed between 1901 and 1904 by the Baku philanthropist Musa Naghiyev, based on a design by architect D. D. Buyanov. Built in the Italian administrative style, the monumental structure completely abandons a symmetrical layout. Designed in harmony with the local terrain and the structure of what was then known as Nikolayev Street (now Istiglaliyyat Street), the building is considered one of the rare gems of Baku’s architectural ensemble.
Originally constructed for the Baku Real School, this classically styled building has undergone several renovation and restoration works over the years. Currently, the academic complex consists of a four-story main building, the Student Polyclinic No. 3, a two-story building housing the UNEC Extern Center, and a three-story building that accommodates a 24/7 electronic library. The university’s leadership and main administrative units are located in the main academic building.

The building housing the teaching and administrative staff consists of three floors, a basement, and a mansard, with a total area of 14,599.6 sq. m. The building accommodating Student Polyclinic No. 3 and the UNEC Extern Center has two floors and a mansard, covering an area of 565.16 sq. m. The building that houses the 24/7 electronic library is a three-story structure.
Within the academic building, spaces allocated for administrative and academic structural units cover 3,832.6 sq. m, classrooms account for 3,853.6 sq. m, laboratories occupy 190.6 sq. m, library facilities total 598.6 sq. m, the cafeteria covers 880.6 sq. m, assembly halls account for 736.6 sq. m, the polyclinic occupies 178.16 sq. m, and the publishing unit covers 187 sq. m.
