The Student Rector of UNEC is elected for a one-year term from among full-time undergraduate students of the university. (Fourth-year students and above are excluded from eligibility).
For the first time in Azerbaijan, the Student Rector institution, implemented at UNEC since 2014, aims to establish a student self-governance system, promote the development of transparent and effective management mechanisms, and define student–university leadership relations based on international best practices.
The Student Rector is an elected representative responsible for representing the interests of students studying at UNEC.
The Student Rector is one of the equal governing bodies of the university and has the right to participate in the activities of the Academic Council and other structural units, as well as in the discussion of issues concerning students’ interests and in the decision-making process.
The Student Rector performs representative and expert functions in matters related to establishing cooperation with relevant bodies responsible for youth affairs and, within the scope of the powers granted, represents the university and the interests of its students in relations with other educational institutions.
The Student Rector carries out these duties on a voluntary basis.
